Meet Ethel Faust

President of HPOC Blackville, South Carolina

As a life-long advocate for family and community engagement, I am even more so now excited about
the various opportunities to educate, engage and energize the members of our communities to focus on healthy living. and lifestyles. As a retiree of the state of South Carolina, with service across the spectrum of our youngest citizens to our oldest citizens, I have worked within the public spaces of several unique organizations.
The personal and professional experiences during my tenure have afforded me the opportunity to witness many of the social ills throughout our community that pose negative health and community outcomes for our people.

My mission is to gain better health and longevity, and I want all to have the same. Better health and
longevity are influenced by lifestyle choices, including a healthy diet, regular physical activity, and good
lifestyle habits. These factors play a crucial role in promoting and gaining a longer and more fulfilling life. I
believe our habits revolving around socialization, positive thinking, maintaining a healthy diet, engaging in
regular exercise, getting proper sleep and achieving a healthy weight support our health and longevity.

I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in AgriBusiness to further my knowledge, and to extend my
experiential learning in the various segments of the agricultural industry, to make a greater impact throughout our communities as it relates to our heritage. As a 2023 “Farmasis”, it’s also my goal to further our collective mission to “Collaborate, cultivate, and create commerce among Black women” to bring the vision - “Influence 1 million Black Women to grow their own food” to fruition. Additionally, engaging members of our community in a new level of sport through gardening, with focus on the physical, nutritional, mental, and holistic wellness aspects of participating in various levels of Senior Olympic Games for camaraderie and challenging competitive sports for mature adults, promote health and well-being and inspiration to keep participants moving. Gardening and athleticism is a growing trend with clear benefits from the deep roots of Black cultural heritage.

Ultimately, my overarching mission is a truly holistic approach to redefine the fabric of true activism,
achievement, and resilience.
critical thinking, communication skills, and economic theory.
